Russia last year attracted more than a million tourists

In 2014, according to preliminary estimates, Russia visited by more than 1.1 million residents of China. The share of the Irkutsk region was 21,000 Chinese tourists - it is twice more than in 2013 year. China in 2014 became the world's leader outbound tourism. According to the State Department of Tourism of China, last year more than 100 million Chinese tourists traveled abroad, including    South Korea visited by more than 6.5 million Chinese, Thailand - more than 4.1 million, Japan - more than 3 million. 
In the face of fierce competition to attract tourists from China, the formation and promotion of a favorable image of tourist Russia in China is becoming a priority. In addition, according to the tourist association "World without borders", Chinese tourists last year spent traveling abroad more than 150 billion US dollars, becoming one of the most generous in the world of travellers. 
The growth of tourist arrivals from China provides a low exchange rate and profitable shopping tourism in Russia and special visa-free entry to Russia for tourist groups from China. 
"According to our data, in Russia from China in 2014, mainly visited women older than 50 years. To attract young people, we should pay attention to the event tourism. This is a task not only tour operators, regional authorities should actively promote the tourism potential of Russia in the Chinese market. Without a comprehensive promotion the event tourism segment to develop very difficult, "- says the executive director of the travel association" World without Borders "Michael Vislin. 
By the way, at the International Tourism Exhibition in Shanghai, held in November 2014, Irkutsk region was marked Rosturizm as a region with the best growth dynamics of group visa-free travel under the intergovernmental agreement between Russia and China. According to the head of Tourism Agency of the Irkutsk region    Marina Rozhkova, in order to implement the project in July-August 2015 it is planned to hold a press tour for representatives of foreign media on the territories of the Russian Federation, members of the tourist route "The Great Tea Road". 
In the Irkutsk region the route includes visits to the following tourist sites: Museum of Tea, Architectural and Ethnographic Museum "Taltsy" Circum-Baikal Railway, Irkutsk Regional Art Museum named after VP Sukachyov, the historic quarter "Irkutsk Sloboda", Museum of urban life, School of tea art.
